A new way to add a little bohemian to an otherwise chic ‘do came to our attention recently from Milvali Salon. Co-owner Deb Monti’s new feather extensions seem made for summer concerts, blowing in the wind on road trips and lazing around in Dolores Park on sunny afternoons. Even better, they’re relatively inexpensive ($20 and up), temporary and work in long and short hair.
Each natural hair extension has an individual feather affixed to the bottom and is braided and attached to your real hair using a small bead like a regular hair extension would be (no glue, heat or weaving is involved in the process). They last eight to 10 weeks and can be washed right along with your regular hair.
For a subtle look, you can choose a feather that blends in with your hair, while a bolder, rocker-tinged ‘coif is easy to create with brightly-colored feathers and multiple extensions.
