Fun in the Summertime, at 461 Gallery
This exhibit features works that capture summer’s magic. Celebrating far-flung journeys, simple escapes, carefree spirits and melting heat, the collection includes landscapes from Nicholas Coley and Heidi McDowell, seascape by Lundy Siegriest, cityscapes by Sonja Navin and San Francisco street scenes by Dale Erickson.

Fun in the Summertime runs through August 18 at ArtZone 461 Gallery, 461 Valencia Street.

Geometry of Chance, at Mirus Gallery
During the Renaissance, geometry provided a facility for artists to develop the technique of perspective. Geometry of Chance examines the use of line, shape, balance, symmetry, scale and proportion as applied in contemporary artists’ works – works that depicts technology’s impact on perspective. Mark Schoening’s paintings reflect the information overload of the modern age, while Leah Wolff uses mixed media works made from organic materials to address the common disconnect from natural surroundings.

Geometry of Chance runs through August 31 at Mirus Gallery, 540 Howard Street.

Journey Forth: Contemporary landscape between technology and tradition, at Gallery Wendy Norris
Gallery Wendy Norris is showing its first group exhibition in several years, featuring ten, internationally recognized artists. In paintings, sculptures, digital images, and videos, the artists create a contemporary view of the natural world and how humans connect with it. Though rooted in the tradition of landscapes, the exhibit is full of surprises, such as Clement Valla’s Google Earth images that unexpectedly join virtual 3D modeling and aerial photography and Patrick Jacobs’s diorama viewed through a small, round window.

Jenny Bloomfield: Pull, at Gallery 60Six
Pull features Jenny Bloomfield’s dreamy washes of color on wood panels, canvas and paper. The British-born, Bay Area-based artist adds texture and light to her monochromatic works by removing layers of paint with brushes and squeegies.

Pull runs from August 23 through September 28 at Gallery 60Six, 66 Elgin Park.
