The folks behind GAMA-GO got quite a surprise when they tuned in for a recent airing of “American Idol.” Contestant Alex Wagner-Trugman took the stage donning one of the local apparel and accessories company’s limited edition Flock You t-shirts, which sports a silkscreened flock of frenzied birds across its front.
“A bunch of us here watch the show, and we were like, ‘Hey that looks like a GAMA-GO t-shirt.’ We didn’t actually know beforehand,” the label’s co-founder Chris Edmundson says.
Edmundson adds with a laugh:
“American Idol is a show that we all watch, but we never mention it to anyone.”
The show’s audience isn’t the only one about to get an eyeful of GAMA-GO gear. The company known for emblazoning its apparel with street-inspired prints and such signature characters as Deathbot and the Yeti is hard at work on its new SoMa office, warehouse and retail space.
After relocating there this week, Edmundson predicts the company will be ready for the front 450-square-foot retail space – the first brick and mortar store for the label – to open in about two weeks.
In the meantime, fans can content themselves in the online store with new men’s and women’s hoodies and t-shirts, as well as messenger bags fitted with custom logo buckles.
