Get A Taste of Mole @ Mission Cultural Center's Mole To Die For Contest

By

Making mole right is a science, and when it's done to a T, it's a beautiful thing. The Mexican sauce (whose origins are claimed by Oaxaca, Puebla and Tlaxcala), usually concocted with nuts, seeds, chocolate, plantains, grapes, garlic, onions, and a bevy of chili peppers, spices and herbs gets a starring role at tonight's Mole To Die For contest at the Mission Cultural Center. At the contest's 6th year running, you'll get to taste dozens of different moles (they'll also offer small plates of chicken smothered in green mole) and vote for your favorite. Winners will get prizes and a chance to brag to their friends. After teaching your tastebuds a thing or two, you'll be able to navigate the sea of mole dishes offered around the city like a pro.

Stop by the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts' Gallery (where you can check out a bunch of cool Day of the Dead art too) at 7 pm. Adults cost $7 and kids under 11 get in free.
