A flood of leather daddies will venture into SOMA for the world's largest leather party and unofficial gay holiday, the Folsom Street Fair this weekend Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, and as always there will quite a lot to see.
Stretching down Folsom Street from 7th to 12th Streets, almost 400,000 people will crowd the streets dressed in leather dog masks, collars, latex and not much else. Leading up to the fair are loads of events crammed into SF Leather Week (full schedule here) which will really get you in the mood for Sunday.
Tonight, catch the last night of Good Vibrations' Indie Erotic Film Festival at the Castro Theatre. It will be decadent, with margaritas, mariachis and dancers slinking around before the films start. The evening is hosted by drag goddess Peaches Christ and it's audience choice night, so get ready to hoot, holler and scream alongside a bunch of burly queens.
Enter the Powerhouse if you dare for a crazy prison-themed night, clothing pretty much optional. If you do decide to eschew clothing, you'll be rewarded with awesome drink deals. There's a jockstrap contest just after midnight, where the winner gets a whopping $100 (don't spend it all in one place!). All this debauchery awesomely benefits the animal charity PAWS.
Friday night, check out the GAYVN Awards Show at the Castro Theatre, billed as "the Oscars of gay adult entertainment". It's a show that will feature scantily-clad men, comedy, the chance to mingle with the industry's hottest stars, sexy stage performances by Chi Chi LaRue, Sister Roma and more that might make you blush.
"Doing Time On Folsom Street" is the title of a 30 year retrospective of raunchy, fine art photographs taken through the years at the Folsom Street Fair by Mark I. Chester, who has been documenting the underground in San Francisco since the 1970s. It opens at his studio at 1229 Folsom St. from 7-11 pm, and runs through the weekend.
If you're of this persuasion, the All Male Foot Fetish Party is a must-attend event Friday night. To honor fun way below the belt, this soiree at 455 14th St. creates a space to worship feet and view foot videos. Says Folsom Street Fair's website: "We generally attract a wide range of guys from the basic bare foot worshippers to the sock sniffers, boot/shoe licker and even some stomping. Occasionally you'll hear the roar of laugher as the ticklers find willing victims".
Another all-male party comes the following night on Saturday in the form of the San Francisco Men's Spanking Party at the Power Exchange. It's a good-old fashioned time for guys (even straight ones) who enjoy traditional spankings or fraternity-style initiation pledge paddling.
If you like reliving Medieval times, there are also a couple of dungeon events to check out on Saturday. The 15 Association of San Francisco throws its Folsom Leather Fair Eve Men's BDSM Dungeon Play Party all day from 8 am to 1 am, while SF Citadel offers "San Francisco's biggest and best dungeon" that welcomes everyone's and anyone's wildest fantasies. How will you ever choose?
