Legendary DJs, Live Sets, and Electro Parties This July

Summer rages on and there are some fantastic nights headed our way.

Returning from a month of globe-trotting, with first time gigs in Tokyo, Zurich and Berlin, the eclectic styles of Atish are back for this month's Tutu Tuesday party at 222 Hyde. This time he'll bring five hours of nonstop grooves and I'm sure some rare selections picked up along the way in his travels. Don't forget to come out sporting a colorful tutu and your dancing shoes to this one. For first timers, might I suggest some stretching, toe taps and hand claps as a warm up for this marathon set jumping off tonight, July 10.

Veteran Stacey Pullen will be making a special appearance at Monarch'sDeep Blue party this month. For over twenty five years, Pullen has rocked parties on the decks. He emerged during Detroit's Second Wave of Techno, Pullen had a major hand in further developing techno music and taking it worldwide. With a sound that lies somewhere between techno, house and garage, he's got crates of records for days to keep you dancing all night long. For any fan of techno music, seeing this living legend is a must. Holding it down with him in the depths of Monarch on July 14 will be San Francisco's  Rooz, Bo and MossMoss.

Monarch is also throwing a rad weekly party properly entitled Soul Phunktion and on July 18, Mark Farina will be in the house, his trademark deep grooves and down tempo gems dominating speakers. For years I've been a fan of the Mushroom Jazz series and the soulful rhythms of Farina, who has been such a major contributor to the San Francisco scene. Blending his Chicago influences with those experienced on the west coast, Farina shares his sounds on dance floors all over the map. I'm also looking forward to the sounds and styles of J Boogie and Colossus who will be sharing the decks with Farina at this hip new weekly gathering.

After listening to a few of his mixes, it's safe to say Holland's Conforce is dope! This guy blends sounds from every angle by combining elements of house and dub, awash in ambient currents with a dash of techno bump. He'll headline a live set at the BeatBox for yet another one of Jeremy Bispo's As You Like It parties that continue to expose this city to groundbreaking artists making waves in the world of electronic music. Catch a bit of a friendly battle between SassMouth and MossMoss, along with sets by Jason Kendig, Ghosts on Tape and Nick Williams. See ya there on July 20.

I recently listened to "La Cueva," a bangin'  tune by Jonny White and No. 19 cofounder Nitin and got stoked when I heard Nitin is making his SF debut at Adnan's Forward party this month at Public Works. Since the launch of No.19 back in 2008, Nitin has played the world over and put out some outstanding releases and remixes from the likes of Jamie Jones and Soul Clap. He'll be playing alongside Adnan (who will also be celebrating his birthday), Galen and Michael Perry. This is going to be a super night featuring Tomas Barford of Whomadewho, San Francisco DJs Solar and Peter Blick in the OddJob loft, and the return of Davi A playing the silent disco. It's all going down on July 21.
