Let's Eat: Tabemasho Comes to J-Town This Weekend

By

If you've got a little Japanophile in you, you'll want to get yourself to Japantown this Saturday for Tabemasho (which means "let's eat"). You'll eat well for sure—from ohagi manju (mochi) to congee with crispy ham and uni, sushi, shabu-shabu, pickled vegetables, beef tataki with daikon (from chef Nik Balla of Nombe).

Amongst the just-like-grandma-made-it cooking, there are restaurants presenting, including Betelnut, Bushi-Tei and Hayes Street Grill (Hayes Street Grill?). Chef Bruce Hill of Zero Zero (a long time Japanophile way before he became pizza guy) will also be there doing his thing. There will be a jubacko opening, which is layered dishes that are wrapped in traditional Japanese fabric. Prior to serving, it's opened in a ceremonical fashion. And it doesn't get more exciting than that.
