If you're a beer fan who couldn't snag tickets to this Saturday's sold-out SF International Beer Festival, you might be feeling down about missing out on all the beer and fun. But never fear: the SF Brewers' Guild has launched another awesome beer event on the same exact day to catch the overflow of interest from the SFIBF. Slow Beer, a collaboration with Slow Food San Francisco, will feature over 25 handcrafted brews from Guild members like Anchor, ThirstyBear, Southern Pacific Brewing, Magnolia, 21st Amendment, Beach Chalet, and Speakeasy.
To keep drinkers on an even keel, Hog Island Oyster Company will be on hand with plenty of bivalves to slurp down, and grilled local sausages and charcuterie will be available alongside snacks from the likes of Sour Flour, Acme Bread Company, Pacific Sun Olive Oil, and Whole Foods. The Brothers Lekas, whose band In Rare Form has opened for everyone from The Mother Hips to Burning Spear, will play their guitar- and mandolin-tinged tunes.
Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door, and include all beer tastings and food. The proceeds will benefit Slow Food SF, which is aiming to send a local farmer on a full scholarship to the 2012 Terra Madre event in Turin, Italy. For those who already have an SFIBF ticket and want to push their livers to the breaking point (leave those car keys at home), Slow Beer is an afternoon event, meaning you can hop over to Fort Mason without missing any of the action there.
Saturday, April 28, 1-5 pm, at the County Fair Building, Golden Gate Park (Lincoln Way & 9th Ave.)
