For most of us, Giants fever means drinking a few more beers at a bar you wouldn’t normally be caught dead at, and doing shots with strangers for every Orange and Black run. (Eight runs! How you feeling this morning?).
But local cyclist Chris Phipps took his Orange October in a more creative and calorie burning direction. Using his GPS, Phipps created a bike ride around the city in the shape of the SF Giants logo.
His Strava map shows the Go Giants ride to be 22.7 miles, but Phipps’ comments say that with the back and forth to get the diagonals, it’s more like 60 miles—with a significant portion up and around Twin Peaks.
If you want to really geek out on the ride and focus on the straight lines where there aren’t straight lines, you can. (He explains in in the comments). Or, you can just appreciate that this is a genius and hard core way to celebrate our boys in orange.
Want to experience the ride first hand? Phipps will be leading a group Go Giants ride at 7:30 am on Saturday from Kezar Stadium. Be warned, his Strava account is intimidating, so this SF Giants ride is for the all-star cyclists.
Keep up the creative fandom, San Francisco. And Chris, we’re looking forward to a Panda ride next!
