One thing we've learned while playing in the Castro: there are few things better to combat the chilly fog than a good wig—fellas, can we get an amen?!—so what better way to warm the cockles of your heart than with a drag fundraiser! This Sunday afternoon in the heart of the gayborhood, Lookout wants you to slap on a lacefront and pose for the camera with your best pretty lady face to win tickets to one of the season's most raucous events.
Don't worry if you a busted thing—wigs will be provided, and you can keep your cocktail in your hand(!)—it's all good fun to raise awareness for the EndHIV Drag Ball happening on Saturday, October 5th; ticket sales support the Abzyme Foundation in finding a functional cure to HIV, as well as crucial AIDS vaccine research and advocacy.
The Drag Ball's theme—The Animal Inside—is bringing out San Francisco's drag elite, including Sister Roma, Terry T., Bebe Sweetbriar, Sister Pat N Leather, Sister Eve Volution, Kylie Minono and other luminaries.
(The event details tell us that "scandalous girl or boy drag is not mandatory" but we say: where's the fun in THAT?? Go ahead and start shopping for those faux-fur fabrics and hair-based textiles, 'cause it's the time to free your inner jackalope! Enter the stage contest and claw your way to the top categories, including Best Animal Fashion and Best Runway Prowl/Prance.)
There are a variety of tickets to peruse, from general admission to VIP table captaining for your group of 10 to enjoy bottomless Espolón Tequila bottle service from your prime seating closer to the stage! So brush that mane and shake those tail feathers—the search for a cure needs you!
