Our very own "locally grown" Michael Pollan is a busy man. When not writing such influential books as In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto,The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals, The Botany of Desire (which artists-in-residence at the Arts Research Center at UC Berkeley adapted into a theater performance in April), Second Nature and A Place of My Own, the highly renowned author also acts as a contributing writer to the New York Times Magazine, directs the Knight Program in Science and Environmental Journalism at UC-Berkeley and will be interviewed for Robert Kenner's new movie Food, Inc. scheduled to hit theaters in June.
As if that's not enough, Pollan is now taking on the role of earthly activist with a program he claims will revolutionize American agriculture. Presented by the Long Now Foundation through a series of seminars about long-term thinking and solutions for the future, Michael Pollan will delve into "Deep Agriculture: Resolarizing the Food System to Fight Climate Change and the Health Care Crisis," during which he'll divulge the mysterious details of his "sun food agenda."
