Personal health and environmental health take the spotlight when the Lake Tahoe Lifestyle Festival makes it debut on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Bijou Community Park on the south end of Big Blue.
Under the banner of "Health Recreation Fun", the all-day event (10 am-4 pm) unites local educators, physicians, vendors and indoor and outdoor sports enthusiasts to promote overall wellness. Attendees will learn all about nutrition, exercise, children's health and safety and environmental education.
Along with the free health screenings, bike obstacle course, bungee trampoline and climbing wall will be three "big-ticket" items: An adult mountain bike clinic and tour (10 am-noon), a nature appreciation walk from the park, through the South Lake Tahoe demonstration garden to the Truckee river (11 am-noon) and a kids mountain bike workshop for riders 8 to 12-years-old (1-2:30 pm).
The Lake Tahoe Lifestyle Festival, which will be conducted under the aegis of Barton Health and the City of South Lake Tahoe, is a free event, food and drink vendors excepted, of course; even transportation to the festival on the Blue Go bus system (Routes 50 and 53 only) is gratis.
