Oakland Eats: Sausage Fest and a New Off The Grid

Oakland Eats: Sausage Fest and a New Off The Grid

By

It's all happening in Oakland this week, with a new weekly installment of Off The Grid, and a destination-worthy spot for sausages and beers in Fruitvale.

Uptown Oakland is now home to a Monday evening Off The Grid, featuring the usual roster of food trucks (including favorites like Doc's of the Bay and El Sur), plus music-centric offerings in collaboration with the Oakland Museum of California and the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment. Concert-goers, take note—OTG's Williams Street location is in close proximity to the Fox Theater, the Paramount, and the New Parish.

Down in Fruitvale, stop by The Half Orange to fulfill your burger, sausage, and beer cravings. The restaurant comes from Jay Porter and his wife Katie Mayfield. Porter, formerly of The Linkery in San Diego, features Niman Ranch pork sausages and Marin Sun Farms beef. Sample burgers, sandwiches, and plates showcasing house made sausages, perhaps with a side of fried cheese curds for good measure. There will be a selection of local craft beers available, too.
