I’m making a holiday visit to see family in New York and spoke to my six-year-old goddaughter the other day. Mary has already lined up many activities for the visit, from baking cookies to giving me a pedicure. Yes, that’s right. The six-year-old version of a pedicure involves massaging feet with lotion and polishing a topcoat of color on already-polished toes. As with any pedicure, I like the massage part the best, and I’m packing my own products for the job.

Local beauty company In Fiore has a jar of Peppermint Luxury Pedicurie Balm that seems perfect for a holiday pedicure. The company’s products are made without chemicals that are bad for you and the environment, so I’ll feel good about having it slathered on my feet (and on Mary, the pedicurist’s hands). The balm is full of nourishing ingredients, such as sweet almond oil, jojoba oil and therapeutic essential oils (peppermint, lavender).
Find it at Parfumerie In Fiore (868 Post St.) or International Orange (2044 Fillmore St., 2nd Fl.).
