7x7 and Cointreau proudly presented a special happy-hour fundraiser at Lookout in the Castro, in support of local filmmakers Robert Cortlandt and Dan Goldes of Urbanstreet Films and their new documentary, 5 Blocks, which examines the changes taking shape in San Francisco's Mid-Market neighborhood.
Guests included employees from some of the tech firms—including Airbnb and Zendesk—located in the rapidly-changing section of Market Street; each $20 donation brought access to complimentary specialty cocktails including The Cointreau Rickey, an updated classic made with the 80-proof crystal clear orange spirit, served by ambassadors using Cointreau's vintage-style soda siphon. Try the recipes below at home!
Dan and Robert eagerly discussed the film; conducted a raffle for a special "San Francisco" prize package; and arranged for yummy sweets from Shokomonk Chocolates, and delicious seasonal cookies from Buenos Aires Alfajores. DJ dirty Kurty (who also happens to be Robert's sister!) came up from San Diego to spin a high-NRG soundscape.
About the film
5 Blocks chronicles the journey of a community working to revitalize central Market Street in San Francisco, a blighted no-man’s land. The film weaves together the stories of artists, politicians, low-income residents, business owners and landlords. Can past political and ideological differences be put aside? Can the neighborhood be revitalized in a way that doesn’t displace the people who are living and working there now? Find out more at UrbanStreetFilms.com.
