On October 23, Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco launched a milestone celebration with an opening event at their new signature restaurant, Brasserie S&P.
Executive Chef Adam Mali presented a stunning menu that showed off Brasserie S&P's sophisticated yet approachable take on California cuisine. The lively crowd also enjoyed the lobby level bar's gin-centric cocktails—they boast the largest selection of gins in the city—and explored their beverage menu of over 600 wine selections and crafted beers.
Chef Adam's menu for the evening included:
Drake Bay Oysters
Crab Louis Salad on endive
Duck Liver Pate with mushrooms and Pinot Noir Gastrique
Celery root soup in shot glass
Toma cheese with membrillo on fig bread
Albacore Tuna Poke on spoon
Terroir Gin marshmallows by Spirited Cooking
Chocolate truffles with Pinot Noir
Chocolate Pot du Crème mini in Ramekin
Beverages for the evening included Gloria Ferrer bubbles—Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Blancs and Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee—a tasting station of white and red wines provided by Long Shadows, and a popular Oxley Gin cocktail called Grape² created by mixologist Priscilla Young and served in a fun Mason jar:
1 ½ oz Oxley Gin
1 oz Madagascar Vanilla syrup
¾ oz lemon juice
3 wedges of red grapefruit
4 red grapes
Muddle grapefruit, grapes, and lemon juice. Add other ingredients and ice. Tighten lid. Shake hard. Unscrew the lid and float soda water.
