On June 2nd, the SF SPCA and 7x7 staged the second annual Whole Enchihuahua on a bright, blustery day in San Francisco's Dolores Park. The event brought together pet lovers, adoption agencies, and rescue groups to call attention to the mighty chihuahua—one of the breeds most in need of rescue.
Hundreds of attendees met a variety of potential companions including dogs, kitties, bunnies and even pigeons and doves. Chipotle provided a free burrito gift card for anyone who adoped a dog onsite. Ear candy was provided by Bay Area favorites Trio Sol de America. SimplyShe donated the harnesses for the "Harness Fitting" booth as well as the costumes for the photo booth!
The highlight of the afternoon was the delightful costume contest: the cuteness level went off the charts as dozens of canines strutted down a catwalk with proud guardians in tow, competing for an array of prizes supplied by Wag Hotels, Hotel Vitale, Nuena Photography, Mijo & Bambi, YAP, Chronicle Books, popchips, and the SF SPCA itself.
Humans who registered their doggie for deliberation received a voucher for a complimentary signature dish from the participating trucks from San Francisco's own Off the Grid network: El Norteno, Kasa Indian, and Whisk on Wheels.
