Hafta love a band that pens tunes on compelling subjects ala “Graveyard Drug Party” and “Adult Acid.” And so it goes withThee Oh Sees. They like to keep things interesting. The group headline the Stand with Haiti benefit at Cafe du Nord Tuesday, Feb. 2 -- surely the most critic- and hipster-friendly concert yet to gather funds for the very excellent cause of getting relief to the earthquake-ravaged country. SF art-rock/garage-rock vet John Dwyer heads up Thee Oh Sees, a combo that began life as a more earnestly folkie endeavor than any of his previous outfits (see the in-the-red garage-skronk of the Coachwhips and the sensational noise-theatrics of Pink and Brown). Somehow Thee Oh Sees have lasted -- and matured, in the nicest way imaginable, into a full-bodied, multi-textured rock band that falls in neither the distortion-chomping garage camp nor the precious folk turf. Rather, long-players like The Master’s Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In waxed both sweet and wicked -- and that means wicked good fun.

Also joining Thee Oh Sees is their Bay Area producer and pal Kelley Stoltz, no slouch himself in the songwriting department, and SF garage maniac Ty Segall, who has recorded for Dwyer's own label, Castle Face. So stand -- sounds like a great idea.
