Scenes of the City: Ocean Beach

By

For this week's Scenes of the City, we headed out to Ocean Beach and chatted up a few people taking advantage of this sudden spell of good weather.

The Woolley family, from Denver, Colorado, enjoyed the sunshine and tried to build a sand castle and moat in the rising tide.

Ted Danyo, 28, a law student at USF, made use of the wind and water for some kiteboarding.

Friends Eli Theman,28, Katrina Cairo,22, and Travis Knapp-Prasek, 26, hang out at the base of the Ocean Beach seawall.

Katie Farren, 24, and Allison Johnson, 26, spent the afternoon walking their dog Roxy and feeling the sand between their toes.

These three friends - John Raycroft, Michael Mashura, and Todd Dellauile, all 24-years-old - enjoyed a stroll down the sunny beach while visiting from out of town from Cincinnatti and Pittsburg.

Artist John Whitmarsh, 38, utilized the public fire pits at Ocean Beach to char recycled wood planks for a signboard that will be shown in front of his art studio. The public can view his work starting in April every Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m. at his studio located at 372 Ritch, right next to 330 Ritch near Little Skillet & Cento Coffee bar. Check out his website here.

Joc Tenet, 27, said he is visiting from France and looking for a job here in SF. But he took the afternoon off to skateboard down the Ocean Beach sidewalk.

Ray Hattar, 27, relaxed with a cigarette on the Ocean Beach sidewalk after having a brief run-in with local law enforcement.

We met Marty Pradere, 33, and Teresa Siles, 31,  lounging atop the Ocean Beach seawall in the afternoon sun.

On his way to a local cafe to work, Alan Nechils, 32, took a detour down the beach to bask in the weather.
