Where to Dine Outdoors in San Francisco, by Neighborhood
We're always down to grab a pizza to go, but there's just something to be said for sitting down and ordering up. Thanks to the opening of its new parklet, we can do just that at Pizzeria Delfina's 18th Street location. (Maren Caruso)

Where to Dine Outdoors in San Francisco, by Neighborhood

By

UPDATE Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020: At a press conference on Friday, health officers from the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and the city of Berkeley announced that the region would proactively enter into the state's most restrictive shutdown since March, closing down outdoor dining and limiting other businesses in much of the area as of Sunday, December 6, SF Eater reports. For Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, SF, and the city of Berkeley, the stay-at-home order will begin on the already-established curfew hour of 10pm Sunday. In Alameda County, it will take effect on Monday, December 7. In Marin County, the order will take effect on Tuesday, December 8. The new restrictions will remain in place across all these counties until January 4, 2021.

All this sheltering in place is basically a San Francisco foodie's nightmare. Sure, there's excellent food available for takeout, but we still want the community of clinking glasses and breaking bread, the atmosphere of our favorite funky neighborhood spots and, of course, there's always something to be said for service.

As of June, restaurants with patios began opening for limited outdoor service. Sidewalks have been converted for table space, and new parklets have popped up to accommodate businesses not previously set up for alfresco dining.

Plus, on September 18th, Mayor London Breed announced the City's move-forward plan for indoor dining, which may resume by the end of the month at 25 percent capacity up to 100 guests. Until then (and maybe even after that because, hey, we're playing it safe), here's where to eat and drink outside in San Francisco.
