Forget online dating, try looking for love the old fashioned way: In a panel of three people vying for a date with the same sweetie. Pioneered in the 70s with The Dating Game and continuing on in reality TV, it’s a tried and true way of finding love—or at least drama.
On February 6, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is taking this classic dating game and adding a bicycle spin to it in their upcoming Love on Wheels event.
In this version of the game, pedal-loving contestants quiz one another and pedal off on a date together. As you’d imagine, sexual innuendo is very thinly disguised in bike metaphor, as the hidden-behind-a-sheet bachelors and bachelorettes ask things like, “If I was a bicycle, would you ride me fast or slow?” or “What’s your favorite kind of chain lube and why?” You get the point.
They’re still looking for contestants for the event, so if you’re a pedal-loving single, sign up! There are categories for the straights and the gays alike, though word has it the single straight ladies looking for love is filling up fast.
If you’re too shy to be on stage and ask people personal questions about how they want to be blown (air in the tires, people, jeez!), then you can always just be in the audience. There are lots of interactive flittering opportunities for those who don’t make it on the game.
Love on Wheels, Wednesday, February 6, Public Works, 6-9pm. Sign up at http://www.sfbike.org/love or check out more about the event on the SF Bicycle Coalition’s Facebook page.
