As many artists know, it can be a struggle to find a marketplace to show and sell their work. New contemporary art fair, stARTup Art Fair, wants to change that. For its SF debut, stARTup Art Fair will provide artists with an exhibition venue—the '50s themed Hotel Del Sol in the Marina, to present and sell work as well as provide direct access to the art world and its many enthusiasts.
From May 1-3, 50 artists will get a unique opportunity to take over one of the 57 stylish hotel rooms and have their very own three-day solo exhibition. Most importantly, all participating artists keep 100 percent of the proceeds from their sales, and will have their work reviewed by influencial figures in the art community, such as SFMOMA's curator of painting and sculpture Janet Bishop and SF-based artist and professor Paul Mullins.
