Perhaps in a move inspired by SFMOMA On the Go, the modern art museum's sporadic art exhibits happening throughout SF while it undergoes renovations, the Stern Grove Festival will begin featuring noontime concert "pop-ups" in SF neighborhoods. Billed "Grove on the Road," these mini shows will bring noted artists, interactive arts programs, and that special community "block party" vibe. The series starts things off in the Mission (22nd Street from Mission to Valencia) on Earth Day (April 18) with Rupa and the April Fishes, Bayonics, and Boco do Rio. Also look for a Brazilian dance workshop with Tika Morgan, drumming with BoomShake! Music, and more.
Other hoods hosting Grove on the Road shows are Boeddeker Park in the Tenderloin (May 3) and Noe Valley Town Square (May 10).
Check out SternGrove.org for more details. And stay tuned for the 78th Stern Grove Festival's full lineup, which will be announced on May 1.
