It's amazing to think it took this long for Gay Rights pioneer Harvey Milk to get his own day of recognition, but he finally did. This past May 22, on what would have been Milk's 80th birthday, was the first Harvey Milk Day to be celebrated across the nation. He's the only other person in state history, aside from John Muir, to be awarded such high distinction. In honor of the landmark event, Zazzle.com is offering styling t-shirts, pins, hats and tote bags to show your support for this generation's civil rights crusade. Designed locally, they each feature Harvey's signature grin. Best of all, the proceeds benefit the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy, a public school in the Castro that advocates literacy skills, global awareness and student activism.
