Tedda Hughes Gallery Boutique Opens on Polk Street

By

The latest reason to head to Polk Street? Tedda Hughes Gallery Boutique opened its doors over the weekend. In the eponymous shop from local artist and designer Tedda Hughes, clothing and accessories from such independent designers as Richard Ruiz, She-Bible and Helena de Natalio accompany new work from local artists such as Hilary Williams, dk haas and Trish Tunney.

Hughes hand picks each piece in the white-walled, uncluttered space punctuated by simple bohemian-chic details (a single white sitting bench, an ornate silver mirror, a vintage birdcage).

“My goal is to support and give opportunity to mostly under-represented groups who have talents and work that is technically and aesthetically successful,” Hughes says. “I’m selling creative pieces primarily for women with a few basics to go with them, art, kids toys and clothes, baubles.”

Among the items that caught our eye during a recent visit were a rocker-chic pair of black leggings with side ruching by Atsuko Kudo, one-of-a-kind peacock feather pendants by Miss KK, snakeskin clutches by Helena de Natalio and L.K. Roberts laser-cut necklaces patterned after vintage lace and exclusively available in the U.S. at the store.
