It's Friday, which means time for the Eater Wrap, the weekly recap from Eater SF on all the happenings from the local restaurant scene.
1) In the restaurant and media world, the earth-shattering news of the week was the coronation of Sam Sifton as the next dining critic for the New York Times. The move is a significant one because Sifton's mug is already plastered all over the interwebs, which spurred some musings on SF's own lovable, not-so-anonymous critic.
2) Ok, so who exactly is paying for Yelp reviews? A desperate business owner? An unintelligent one? And what's the impetus here? So many questions, so little time.
3) If you wish to read about an old man offering to knock someone's teeth out at a wonderful little place called the Bay View Boat Club, do click here.
4) Talented young chef Joshua Skenes finally rolled out his Carte415 project mid-week. Between his gourmet food cart and his weekly restaurant Saison, he's got a lot going on for a guy sans a proper restaurant.
5) The latest restaurant to fall victim to the shutter is Berkeley's Eccolo, but its talented chef/owner Christopher Lee might be headed to this side of the Bay with his own butcher shop.
6) The land known as the Richmond was the scene of a controversy this week, where a tiff between Internos Wine Bar and a gay couple led to a kiss-in protest.
7) Oh, and Top Chef Masters is still on the television. Now down to the final foursome, Hubert Keller and Michael Chiarello are still charming everyone, while Kelly Choi is still churning out memorable quotes ... for everyone's enjoyment.
