The New Ritz Carlton at Lake Tahoe Is Mighty Fine

By

True, it's frigid and semi-miserable in the Bay but guess what that also means: snow in Tahoe.  And while we're joyfully toasting to this pre-holiday snow-treat, we're also raising our glasses something else lake-side: The new Ritz-Cartlton Highlands (North Star) which opens tomorrow! We're sort of drooling over it. It's fancy.

Here's what its got going: Slope-side at North Star, it features ski-in, ski-out access and a boots and equipment concierge (who really wants to carry skis?) There's a new gondola that connects the hotel to all the magic of Northstar Village (including the ice rink, which, if you're familiar with our recent obsession with all things skating, is a serious win).

Also, there's the highly-anticipated debut of Jardinière chef-owner Traci Des Jardins' Manzanita, the first star-chef destination in Tahoe. The restaurant will feature her signature French-inspired California cuisine which, given the numerous awards to her name (a little accolade named after the legendary James Beard comes to mind), is all but assured to be mind-blowing mountainside culinary experience.

And of course there's a spa, which offers delightful-sounding things like Pinyon Pine Nut Organic Massages and Energizing Body Glow and Rain Showers. Oh la la.

And more good news: The Ritz is offering an introductory "Sneak Peak" ski package for our dear 7x7 readers. For $349 per night for three nights, you get two, three-day lift tickets + valet parking.  Take our advice and get first tracks on that! Like, now.
