This House Cray: A Historical Tudor Landmark + Speakeasy for $27M

If you ever sat drooling in front of Showtime's The Tudors, or fantasized about your own historical English estate, then your dreams are about to come true (Jonathan Rhys Meyers not included).

Here are the specs:

Where: 12335 Stonebrook Court, Los Altos Hills

Asking Price: $27,000,000

Total Bedrooms: 7

Total Baths: 8

Year Built: 1914

Total Square Feet: 30,000

Wow Factor:

Perfect for the history buffs among us, this 1914 estate is listed as a historical landmark (which also means it has lower property taxes in case you run out of money after the purchase). It was originally built for Percy Morgan – a turn of the century mogul who helped form the California Wine Association, Eureka Mining Company, and Pacific Telephone & Telegraph – and his wife, the daughter of a wealthy Oakland family. Their sons are credited with introducing vodka to the United States through the invention of the Moscow Mule.

The Morgan estate has been on and off the market for the last six years, but not one has committed to owning the massive mansion – probably due to lack of old British royalty in the States. Currently owned by Silicon Valley venture capitalist Kelly Porter (and originally purchased for a tidy $45M.), he spent seven years renovating the estate with over-the-top interiors featuring gold leaf ceilings and a Venetian-inspired ballroom.

Now the extravagant home boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an underground wine cellar/grotto, parking for twenty cars (What. The. Hell?), a pool with fountains, and a secret speakeasy accessed via a false door in the library, where I'm sure you can down a Moscow Mule with some friendly ghosts after a hard day's work.
