This Week Only in SF: Made-to-Measure Kiton Suits

By

A cult-favorite among men’s clothing connoisseurs is making a rare San Francisco appearance this week.

Tailors from Naples-based Kiton will be taking orders for the label’s much-lauded bespoke men’s suits and demonstrating their workmanship at Neiman Marcus through Saturday.

The Italian brand founded in 1968 by Ciro Paone and Antonio Carola is best known for custom-made shirts, suits and shoes that take its 450-some master tailors hours-upon-hours to perfect. A Kiton suit, for example, routinely requires the work of at least 45 tailors and up to 25 hours from start to finish. Fabrics are mostly woven exclusively for the label, and garments are hand-cut and – stitched to contour the wearer’s body.

Not surprisingly, Kiton’s made-to-measure garments don’t come cheap. A custom-made suit will easily run you $6,000.

To sample the brand at a lower financial commitment, Kiton’s silk ties are available at the Neiman Marcus Kiton shop for a cool $265.

Available at Neiman Marcus, 150 Stockton St., 415-362-3900.
