The Long Now, now
Brian Eno and Danny Hillis have been thinking about long-term thinking for 20 years now. On Tuesday, they'll reflect back on their journey and look ahead at what's next for the foundation. This hot ticket is sold-out, but Long Now members will have access to the live stream.

Bold Italic Dogpatch Microhood
Go to third base on Thursday at The Bold Italic's third annual Dogpatch microhood event. Hosted in partnership with Rickshaw Bagworks, this is a who's who of neighborhood block parties. Usual suspects include DODOcase, La Fromagerie, Piccino, the Lab Cafe, Little Nib, Workshop Residence, the Museum of Craft and Design, and a million more.

Ruth Asawa and Mike Mills
The Academy of Art and the Roxie host a special screening of Bob Toy's doc Ruth Asawa: Roots of an Artist, the story of the late (and local) artist and activist. Then, on Sunday, see a selection of artist/writer/director Mike Mills' videos, which were commissioned by SFMOMA for the offsite exhibit "Project Los Altos." Mills will be on hand for a post-screening Q&A.

"Live from Somewhere"
In this solo show, Tammy Rae Carland explores the correlations between theater and photography, pressures of performance, and the thrill of live action through a series of video, photographs, photograms, and sculpture.

Woodcraft Weekend
This weekend-long workshop at the Headlands Center for the Arts pairs novices with master woodworkers, who will teach students traditional and emerging woodcraft techniques (plus a materials scavenger hunt with the folks from Anzfer Farms).
