The big NYE is just around the corner, but here are a handful of other events going on this week to kick off 2014. For our comprehensive list of NYE parties, click here.

Music
Jessica Pratt
Bay Area native and a 7x7 Hot 20, Jessica Pratt makes her way home from LA for a show at The Chapel. This talented young singer-songwriter's smokey folk voice will haunt you. If you're in town, don't miss this show.
When: 8 p.m., Mon. 12/30
Where: The Chapel, 777 Valencia St.

NYE
EyeHeartSF's Streets of San Francisco
At first glance, this party may just seem like another blow-out club event. But look a little closer, and you'll see that none other than MOBY is headlining. And being that he recently dropped his 11th album, Innocents, you're in for lots of new music along with the oldies.
When: 9 p.m., Tues. 12/31
Where: Fort Mason Festival Pavilion, Marina Blvd. and Buchanan St.

Performance
Exploratorium After Dark with LEVYdance
This week's After Dark event is all about sharing, but lest you think it's all about training 2-year-olds, choreographer Ben Levy of SF's LEVYdance presents "Comfort Zone," in which he and his ensemble will explore intimacy, movement, and social spaces.
When: 6 - 10 p.m., Thurs. 1/2
Where: Pier 15

Music
Brian McKnight
R&B singer-songwriter-producer Brian McKnight (he's worked with JT, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and Quincy Jones) is making a stop in SF for four nights of back-to-back shows in support of his latest album More Than Words. McKnight returns to his soulful roots with his newest single "Sweeter," the perfect serenade for your special someone. Get that hot date on the books now.
When: Thurs. 1/2–Sun. 1/5
Where: Yoshi's, 1330 Fillmore St.

Art
100 Performances for the Hole
One night, six hours, 100 performances. This is the return of SOMArt's epic 100 Performances for the Hole. From offbeat experimentation to visual representation, this is an edgy SF art event that you need to experience at least once. Wear comfortable shoes and check your judgements at the door.
When: 5:58 p.m. - midnight, Sat. 1/4
Where: SOMArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan St.

Art
Nina Katchadourian's "Two Libraries: Recently Sorted Books"
An ongoing project initiated in 1993, artist Nina Katchadourian's "Sorted Books" series celebrates its 20th anniversary at Catharine Clark Gallery. This is the first exhibit to feature photos from Family Gathering, the 10th and newest addition to the series, which essentially mines library collections and sorts books into clusters that Katchadourian then photographs. It's kind of like her personally curated card catalogue.
When: Sat. 1/4–Sat. 2/15; Opening Reception and Book Share: 12 - 5 p.m., Sat. 1/11
Where: Catharine Clark Gallery, 248 Utah St.

Music
The Easy Leaves
Sonoma farm boys Kevin Carducci and Sage Fifield (aka The Easy Leaves) are bringing California Country back. If you missed them at Outside Lands, now's your chance to support their local sound at GAMH's second Western Winter Formal. It's time to dust off those cowboy boots.
When: 8:30 p.m., Sat. 1/4
Where: Great American Music Hall, 859 O'Farrell St.
