Three Reasons to Cross the Bay Bridge

Three Reasons to Cross the Bay Bridge

By

Who knew the East Bay not only had its own Restaurant Week, but boasted TWO of them? That's right. This weekend is a great time to eat in the Beast with Oakland's Restaurant Week just kicking off, while Berkeley's wraps up. And hell, why not take a long walk in between meals?

Berkeley Restaurant Week
Twenty Berkeley restaurants are participating this year. Take the opportunity to try out the Michael Bauer fave Comal (yummy Mexican food), farm-to-table gem Revival Bar + Kitchen, or the much-ballyhooed vegan charcuterie at NYT pick Gather, all offering $30 prix-fixe menus. The deals end January 20th, so get there this weekend!

Oakland Restaurant Week
Dozens of restaurants are offering $20, $30, and $40 prix fixe options for Oakland Restaurant Week, ranging from classics like Bay Wolf to hot newcomers Hopscotch and Miss Ollie's. Kicking off this weekend, the "week" actually runs 10 days, so take advantage of it.

Hike from Sibley to Tilden Since we're all about Oakland and Berkeley this weekend, here's an awesome hike between the two: Start out at Sibley, on Skyline in the Oakland Hills, and head east on the Skyline Trail toward Berkeley. It's a moderate, three-mile hike to Tilden Park in Berkeley, which beats the pants off the half hour or so it would take you to drive between these two parks. You can bring your four-legged friends too: The trail is dog-friendly and parts of it even allow dogs to run off-leash.
