UM San Francisco invited members of the media and tech communities to support and celebrate the growth of entrepreneurship in the Bay Area by hosting a fundraising event for the annual UC Berkeley Startup Competition (Bplan) at the Walter A. Haas School of Business. The program provides entrepreneurs with the best possible resources, including education, networking, team creation, mentorship and venture financing.
For the fourth year in a row, gold sponsor UMSF has hosted an evening that celebrates the unique blend of media and innovation that exists in the Bay Area. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with some of the most forward-thinking industry leaders and to hear pitches from select teams of this year’s Startup Competition semi-finalists.
In the spirit of innovation, local startups contributed their products and services to the event, held at 111 Minna Gallery. Attendees scanned their fellow partygoers with the MyVegas app to win prizes from premium liquor to a weekend at the ARIA Las Vegas. Britelite Immersive created an interactive display wall for the event, and Pixlee pushed all #UM4Haas photos from Instagram and Twitter onto the screens. Attendees could also listen to radio stations from around the world at the TuneIn demo station.
Two of the semi-finalist teams that presented during the event won awards: Eventable won the People’s Choice Award, while Produk.me won the Products and Services Track—both teams toke home $5,000 to continuedeveloping their ideas!
