Maker Faire

What: The world’s biggest DIY event is back.

Why: Art Basel attendee James Peterson’s Sessilanoid (pictured above), plus other amazing works in art, tech, food, and more.

When: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday, May 16; 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Sunday, May 17.

DESIGN

Prada Made To Order Décolleté Pumps Service

What: For three days only, Prada is letting you take the design reigns—customize eight décolleté open toe styles from the heel (six heights available), material (satin, crocodile, or ostrich, perhaps?), and colors and prints, including the iconic octagon, lily, and tulip the brand is known for. Shoes are delivered approximately 60 days from order.

Why: You’re in charge. And a percentage of proceeds will benefit Komera, a not-for-profit organization that develops self-confident young women through education, community, and sport in rural Rwanda.

When: Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 17.

Valencia Corridor Sidewalk Sale

What: More than 50 local merchants are participating, bringing pirate pardons, storewide discounts, raffles, sidewalk specials, terrarium building, pop-ups, contests, sippings, tastings, and many more surprises.  

Why: Ritual Coffee Roasters, Dog Eared Books, 826 Valencia, and Paxton Gate are all getting in on the celebration.  

When: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday, May 16.

Where: Valencia Street from Cesar Chavez to Market, including cross streets between Guerrero and Mission.

Betty Lin’s New Store

What: The luxury boutique is moving locations and celebrating with two days of trunk shows.

Why: Check out the fall collection and meet the designers of New York label Suno.

When: Trunk shows 12 - 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20; opening party 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 20.

Brunch Launches at Ichi Sushi + Ni Bar

What: Customary Japanese breakfast favorites like cold ramen and grilled mackerel meet the Ichi team’s creative twists on American favorites, plus brunch cocktails like Umeboshi Tonic, Dashi Bloody Mary, and Strawberry Mimosas.

Why: You’ve long awaited the day for pork miso scrambled eggs and tamago French toast.

When: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., every Sunday

Where: 3282 Mission St.
