When Giving 2 And Taking 1 Is A Good Thing

By

Despite our hoarding nature, we always get really excited about the idea of spring cleaning. The only problem is, well, we like our stuff and lack motivation.

Enter Give Two Take One, the Academy of Art's first annual clothing swap and drive.

This Saturday, bring all the clothing and accessories that you've been "saving, you know, just in case" by the Academy's 79 Gallery to exchange them for something you'll actually wear. For every two items you donate, you get a swap ticket that's redeemable for one item of the over 2,000 pieces that are priced to sell in case you run out of tickets.

While you're there, be sure to take full advantage of G2T1's Style Lab team and SF makeup artist Chris Scott, to help turn your new threads into a fresh look from head to toe.

And since we're expecting some pretty great finds since it's hosted by a world-renowned fashion school, we highly recommend bringing your most fashionable closet rejects. In other words, leave your worn undies and stained tees at home.

Everything that's left over after the event will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society for their community programs that help to feed, clothe and shelter over 75,000 people a year.

Ladies and gents, this is what we call a win-win.

AAU Give One Take Two, 4/17 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; Free admission with "swap tickets" or clothing to donate, $2 entrance fee without; 79 Gallery at 79 New Montgomery St., b/t Mission and Jessie Sts.
